Greater efficiency, better performance and quieter operation: the ELEKTROVENT range is already aligned with the new European ecodesign rules.
The European regulatory framework for fans is changing. The new Regulation EC 1834/2024 replaces the previous Regulation EC 327/2011 and introduces stricter energy efficiency requirements for axial and centrifugal fans placed on the European market. ELEKTROVENT chose to anticipate this change: for over two years it has been working to adapt its range, and today it is ready with a new generation of products.
The Context: The ErP Ecodesign Directive
Directive 2009/125/EC, known as the Ecodesign or ErP (Energy-related Products) Directive, is the European framework that sets design requirements for energy-related products. Its objective is twofold: to improve their energy efficiency and to reduce their environmental impact.
For axial and centrifugal fans with a power range between 125 W and 500 kW, Regulation EC 327/2011 has been updated by the new Regulation EC 1834/2024, which will come into full force on 24 July 2026.
What Remains Excluded from the New Regulation
The regulation does not apply to fans intended for specific applications, including:
- fans for explosive atmospheres (ATEX);
- fans for smoke extraction systems used in emergencies only (HT F300 and F400);
- Jet-Fan impulse fans with a power rating below 750 W;
- fans operating with air at temperatures above 100 °C;
- fans for particularly corrosive environments or flammable atmospheres;
- products intended for non-EU markets;
- products already placed on the market before 24 July 2026;
- embedded fans, for which the new regulation will enter into force on 24 July 2027.
Also excluded are the ECOM models, in-line centrifugal fans (DIAM and SILENT), boxed fans (BOX) and the ROOF series, which continue to fall under Regulation EC 1253/2014 on ventilation units.
Over Two Years of Work, Backed by Hundreds of Tests
Adapting to the new regulation was a demanding process, supported by hundreds of laboratory tests. It led to an expansion of the axial fan range with new technological solutions, including the two new blade profiles, EC and EF.
All the series concerned have been redesigned with targeted improvements to motors, impellers, fan casings
The result is a new generation of products that are not only more energy efficient but, in most cases, also higher performing and quieter.
New Catalogue and New Technical Data Sheets
To present these innovations, ELEKTROVENT has produced a new catalogue featuring the entire range of axial and centrifugal fans developed in accordance with the requirements of Regulation EC 1834/2024.
The new technical data sheets for the PLATE-M, PLATE-S, DUCT, RING, ROOF-AM, ESIR and EBACK-A series are already available on our website.
Although it does not fall within the scope of the new regulation, the ROOF-AM series has also been reviewed and redesigned, as have all the corresponding ATEX series that use the new impellers adopted in the axial series.
Quality and Compliance, Always
The results achieved confirm ELEKTROVENT’s ongoing commitment to optimising the performance of its products, while maintaining the high standards of quality, reliability and compliance with European regulations that have always distinguished the company.
